Mountain Ranch(501-884-3400) is Arkansas'
premier golf retreat with plush playing conditions. This
Edmund B. Ault -designed and built course has won the
top spot in Arkansas' Top 10 Public Golf Courses surveyed
by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Golf Digest also consistently
ranks it Number 1 among public and semi-private courses
in Arkansas. A par-5 14th hole with an 80-foot
drop from tee to fairway and a par-4 15th hole with 395
yards-uphill!-make it a truly exciting course.
The Indian Hills Golf Course (501-884-3852) boasts
some truly magnificent views of the Ozarks and Greers
Ferry Lake. But wait until you experience the
17th hole with its 175-yard "fairway" over a canyon
or the 8th hole with its elevated green hanging on
the edge of a gorge. After the match, you can
relive your successes over refreshments or a meal at
the 19th Hole, the golfer's retreat at Indian Hills
Country Club.

The Fairfileld Bay Marina (501-884-6030) is your center
for water recreation. There are 405 slips rented
on an annual basis, with an additional 20 slips available
overnight. A convenient launch area is available
if you bring your own boat.
A 90-passenger "party barge" ferries groups from the
marina on sightseeing and dinner cruises. Take
the marina cruise out to Sugar Loaf Mountain, which
boasts a trail that you can climb 600 feet to the summit
for a breathtaking view of the lake with its cliffs
and lush scenery. The Belle of the Bay, a 40 passenger
climate-controlled boat, also embarks from the Fairfield
Bay Marina to offer a variety of popular themed cruises.
Boat, party barge and ski rentals are available at
the marina, as well as last-minute boating needs. The
Blue Galley serves fast food and drinks.
Houseboat rentals are available at some marinas in
the area.
Of interest around the lake is the Greers Ferry Dam,
John F. Kennedy Memorial Overlook, William Carl Garner
Visitor Center and trout hatchery in nearby Heber Springs.

In our case, "world class fishing" is fact, not hype. We
can back it up with three world-record game fish. Greers
Ferry Lake holds world records for walleye(22lbs.,11ozs.)
and hybrid striped bass (27 lbs.,5 oz.), while its
Little Red River tailwater holds the current world
record for German brown trout (40 lbs., 4 oz.).
Trophy-sized fish are common in our waters. We
have an amazing variety of fishing opportunities that
you can enjoy in and around the Fairfield Bay area. You
can cast for hefty largemouth bass, hybrids and walleye
in one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in
the nation. It's also a popular site for bass
fishing tournaments and other competitive fishing.
And, if you're a trout angler, you're going to love
wading or floating one of the nation's premier tailwater
trout streams-the Little Red River-for rainbow and
brown trout. Outfitters are plentiful for all
types of fishing, from floating to fly-fishing.
Our fishing opportunities are all so accessible. Here
in one place, you can enjoy some of mid-America's finest
freshwater fishing for a range of game fish that includes
bass, hybrids, walleye, trout and plenty of crappie,
bream and other panfish, too. Serious angler
or casual fisher person, we've got a fish to please
everyone.

In Fairfield Bay, you can be as active or laid-back
as you want!
Our Recreation Department (501-884-6008) oversees
a world of fun, from volleyball, a children's park
and horseshoes, etc., at Woodland Mead Park to our
three refreshing outdoor pools. Miniature golfing
climbs to the next level now that Fairfield Bay's exciting
new championship course is open. The racquet
Club pool has a breathtaking view of our beautiful
lake. The Tennis Center has a pro, clinics, lessons,
open play and tournaments, or there's canoe rentals,
horseback riding or hiking backwoods paths, such as
Indian Falls Trail, for the more adventurous. The
Hart Center, a 23,000-square-foot fitness center, is
open in Fairfield Bay.
Our part of The Natural State abounds in natural beauty
and sights. Indian Rock Cave (listed on the National
Register of Historic Places) is a short hike from our
Log Cabin Museum and one of our three historic Totem
Poles. If you're in the mood to venture out of
the Bay, take a day trip to Mountain View's Ozark Folk
Center State Park with its demonstrations of native
arts and crafts, and the impressive Blanchard Springs
Caverns, Ozark Heritage Art Center in Leslie or wineries
at Altus. Bus excursions are also offered to
area sights and events. Remember to shop
our local shops. Lakewood Mall
should be your first stop. Then, you might travel
a short distance outside the Bay for more antiques,
crafts, clothing, art and gifts. A stop at the
Chamber of Commerce Information Office on Dave Creek
Parkway can provide you with information on all this
and more. Food can be fun, too! Try the
restaurants at the Indian Hills Country Club, Bogie's
at Mountain Ranch or any of our fine local restaurants. |
